Hainault Forest 15/9/2011

We (that's me and Alfie) on one of our home educating visits, went to Hainault Forest on 15th September 2011 in search of fungi.  Here are some photos of what we found.

This is a butterfly we saw - sooo pretty.  I need to edit this photo to get a more closer shot.

Some leaves we found

Alfie on the massive tree stump - he always has to climb on this.

He then got brave and wanted to climb some trees.

Being cheeky!

Getting braver!

On the rope climb in the forest.

We had a lovely day, the weather was great, we had a nice picnic and we also visited the farm.

Perpetual Calendar

This is a perpetual calendar that I made/altered, when you buy these they are in plain wood and not decorated/altered.  This was my first attempt, if I do any more I think I would change some of the processes I used.

Berry Baby Hat and Booties

As some of you might know I have gotten into crochet once again, I got a book from the library and came across this gorgeous pattern
This is to fit a newborn.

This is to fit a premature baby - preemie

I have to say there were so many lovely patterns in that book that I purchased it.

Thinking of You card

I love these butterflies, they are a digital stamp which I have coloured using distress inks.  I have also applied glossy accents to the edges of the wings which gives it a bit of a lift.

Simple but effective I think.

Cute Penguin Christmas Cards

Here are some cute penguin christmas cards - they are for sale see here if you are interested.
The cards measure 4 inches x 4 inches.

Bad Blogger

Sorry for being a bad blogger, it has been ages since I blogged.  I just don't seem to have the time at the moment, too busy homeschooling and creating things, but I definately need to blog about it all really.

So I will hopefully start once again, I have to say there appears to be quite a few things that I haven't put on here and therefore I can't promise that they will appear in date order.

Anyhow I hope you find something that you might be interested in seeing or reading about lol.

Allotment update

Hi, Yes I am still about lol.

We have been over the allotment all day today, we have moved plots since the fire and I am very happy with my new plot.  We still have the old plot as we still have cabbages, onions and garlic waiting to be ready to harvest.  The cabbages are ready but the onions and garlic are not, so we will keep it until they are ready.

We have not been paying the old plot much attention and we went and weeded it the other day, today we removed 8 wheelbarrow loads of green waste from there.  We also transplanted a thornless gooseberry and blackberry bushes.

We still have 2 apple trees, loads of strawberry plants, poppies and comfrey plant to move.  We are leaving the raspberries because there is loads on the new plot already.  We have already transplanted our asparagus, I thought it would die, but it appears to be OK - big sigh of relief :)

Also on the new plot we have inherited a shed, it needs painting.  It has a massive elderflower tree behind it which needed cutting back so that was another job we did today.  Thankfully a fellow plot holder, Charlie Thrale borrowed us his shredder which was a god send because it made light work of cutting up them branches.  I also cut back 2 wheelbarrow loads of bramble.

We will be back over there tomorrow I will try and get some photos to add to the posts and will update you on what we do tomorrow.

Amazing People

I have just had a fab email from the people at The Craft Barn.

Over on The Craft Barn's Blog they have a thing called the Wishing Well, where you can ask about products and if your wish gets granted you get to see how the products you mentioned are used.  Back on the 23rd February this year they granted my wishing well wish
"Lisa said
Oh Wishing Well, Wishing Well,
I would love to see what can be done with Krylon Leafing Pens as I love the look of them but panic when I think of gold leafing. Also I have just noticed on the site the Country Love Ceramic pendants which look lush but how would you decorate them and what with.
Also I have seen on blogs altered dominos but what do you use and how?
I hope my wishes come true!
Lisa x"

When I checked their blog I saw my wish was granted and that I had won a free Kyrlon Leafing Pen, unfortunately for me I was off the craft scene and hence not looking at craft blogs etc so completely missed my wish being granted.  I thought oh no I have missed out on my free gift but hey ho I have some ideas now what to do with my dominos.
I then thought I would email the people at The Craft Barn and say I was sorry that I missed my wish being granted and have I missed out on my free gift.

Today I received an email asking me for my address so that they could send me my free gift - how brilliant is that and what a fantastic service from The Craft Barn.

Big Shout Out and a HUGE THANK YOU to The Craft Barn whose site is here

I had some Bad News

I had some bad news this morning, someone has burnt down my shed on my allotment.  This is a complete act of arson, as my shed was unlocked and they could have completely emptied it of its contents - but no they decided to burn it.

We had only installed the big IBC water tank in November and it had already collected a 1000 litres of water - what a waste.
I am the secretary on the allotment committee and I believe this was an inside job as there are to many coincidences for it not to be.  Other sheds were looked in and locks broken but NOTHING was taken so not a normal break in.
What these people don't realise is that I make a bad enemy and I don't forget.
